As I’m sure you are aware Europe is facing the largest mass exodus of people and humanitarian crisis, since WWII, due to the unprovoked actions of the Russian Federation. At the last estimate of 7 million people being displaced and 1,000,000 people have already crossed the border from Ukraine.

My thoughts when starting this effort, “On the 24 February 2022 I woke up and knew that the world had entered a very dark place. With the Russian Federation’s invasion of their peaceful neighbouring country Ukraine, I knew there would be a Humanitarian Crisis Europe had not seen since WWII. I am shaken to the core in the way I would feel saying goodbye to my partner and children, as they made their long way to the neighbouring European countries. I said to myself what would make me fight harder and stronger – that was, knowing that my partner and children were being cared for when they crossed that border to safety, with nothing more than a suitcase at the most. To help those brave Ukrainian fighters stand against the unprovoked invasion and to ensure they knew their families are being cared for, I feel inherently compelled to support those crossing the border fleeing the war.

We as the Community of Tamworth can make a difference!

The funds raised from this page will help greatly with Tamworth’s response, which will see a fleet of vans loaded with sanitary items, winter clothing, food stuffs, children’s books, and toys, all of which will be donated. The main struggle is funding the transportation and fuel costs (if I do not get support from van rental companies) – to support that effort, I have started this page. This is predominantly for the costs of the trip, with any remaining funds will buy supplies for the refuges and or go to the main Ukrainian Relief Fund. This is in conjunction with other charities in Tamworth.
